A good ole finger lickin’, pig pickin’ was enjoyed by residents on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
This annual event, hosted by the Abbington HOA, was a big hit with kids and adults alike. Everyone enjoyed delicious pork barbecue and chicken catered by Backyard Bistro, along with all the traditional sides and their fabulous banana pudding.
While the adults mixed and mingled… the kids bounced around on two jumpy houses and visited the Apex fire truck and crew. A great time was had by all and thanks to all the residents who came!

The 2nd Annual Gator 5k and Crawl took place on the streets of Abbington on Saturday, October 27, 2012. There were approximately 40 runners who took their mark at noon and wound their way along a 3.1 mile route through the neighborhood. Following the 5k, the Gator Crawl took off with more than 50 moms, dads and kids following a 1 mile route.
The organizing committee would like to thank all of the runners and walkers who participated in this year’s race – your support helped raise more than $4500 for our community! Kudos also to our volunteers for their tireless efforts in making our race a complete success! And, for the non-participating residents of Abbington, we wish to again convey our appreciation for your patience and cooperation during the road closings. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Apex Police Department for keeping everyone safe, as well as our sponsors who, without their donations a race would not be possible.
