November News

Neighborly news for November:

  1. Congratulations to all our race participants… our 3rd Annual Gator 5k and 1 Mile Walk was a huge success! About 120 runners & walkers (and a couple four-legged entries) came out on Saturday to help us raise over $3000 for the swim team… great job Gator fans! We had fabulous weather and load’s of fun… it is such a great feeling to see families out walking/running together and supporting the team. Special congratulations to the Young family for winning the VIP Parking Space for next pool season! A few highlights from the day are posted below – swim team members can check out all PHOTOS on the Abbington Alligators’ Shutterfly site.

2. Accolades are also due to the Abbington HOA for putting on another fantastic Pig Pickin’.

In line for 'cue!

Residents enjoyed delicious BBQ and all the fixin’s on yet another picture perfect fall day. This is always a fun community get together – grown ups get to chat and catch up while kids burn off their energy in the bounce house. Thank you HOA board members!

3. The Apex Police Department would like everyone to be aware of a phone scam taking place in our area which involves a utility customer receiving a call from someone who fraudulently identifies themselves as a utility company employee. The customer is advised their utilities will be cut off if their bill is not immediately paid through a third-party payment system. The scammer then asks for a prepaid debit card or credit card information. If you receive a call, you may contact the Town of Apex Utility Billing/Customer Service Dept at 362-8676. We suggest you call that number immediately after receiving a suspicious call to determine if it is legitimate or not. The Customer Service Dept’s info is available HERE.

4. New officers assigned to Community Police Officer (CPO) program: Matthew Hunter & JT Allen. The CPO works closely with neighborhood communities to identify problems of crime and disorder. To stay up to date on the latest police news and activity, you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

5. A message from PPM (our property management company):

PPM now offers the ability for homeowners to register for access to a ‘homeowner web portal’ where you can perform the functions below. To access the portal, click HERE. This info has also been added to the contact info for PPM under the ‘Who’s Who’ tab above.

  • View account specific information online such as current account balances and payment history
  • Update contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers

Additionally, the following notice is required by law to be posted:

NOTICE OF RIGHT TO VOLUNTARY MEDIATION

Pursuant to Section 7A-38.3F of the North Carolina General Statutes, all members are hereby informed that you have a right to initiate mediation pursuant to the terms of the statute to try to resolve a dispute with the Association. Both the homeowner and the Association must agree to mediate the dispute, and each side is responsible for splitting the cost of mediation, including payment of a professional mediator. The mediation process is an opportunity to reach an agreement to resolve a dispute – neither side gives up their right to go to court to have a judge resolve the dispute if both parties are not able to reach an agreement through mediation. The specific process to initiate voluntary mediation is outlined in Section 7A-38.3F of the North Carolina General Statutes.
